First of all, Pomerol is one of the smallest areas of wine production in the Bordeaux region, representing 0.7% of the total area under vine in the Bordeaux winegrowing area. Its estates enjoy international renown and demand for these wines far exceeds supply. Pomerol produces just a few thousand cases of wine every year, and only red wine …

In 2011 : 33 580 hectolitres
In 2010: 30 100 hectolitres
Another specific feature of Pomerol is that it has always refused to establish a classification system.

70% of the distribution of Pomerol wines is dealt with by Libourne and Bordeaux wine merchants.
